EID MUBARAK! - To a blessed Life ...

I feel blessed and very lucky!  I miss Hisham a lot - it is very lonely without him.... and will always be... but God gives me strength... and now I have a path.....

Dougal and Lionheart are happily living with me, chilling most of the time! They have been great travel companions.....

Thank you all for being with me on my journey!  I will now sign out of my blog and yes - believe it or not - you can find me on FACEBOOK!

New Beginnings.....

On 4 July we celebrated Gabjia's birthday with sheisha and cake.... unfortunately the photos didn't come out well.....

And more 'old' friends came to town... Ken &  Yvonne.  Only managed to physically catch up with Yvonne... for coffee and sheisha.  It was so nice to see her again.... last time it was at their place in beautiful Slovenia....

Well, I've been struggling with my job at Grameen-Jameel with the boss from hell and have been trying to get out really since I started.....Finally I had an interview with MSF, and I got the job - starting 1 August 2012!  I am soo very happy.... because I did not have a Plan B! So the last 4 months were a bit unsettling for me..not knowing am I staying or going?!

My dream has come true...  I had the vision of my path to be working with MSF in Dubai and eventually moving into Field work preferably in Sudan and Yemen - Inshallah -

Now I can settle down and make plans...  my brother Michael wants to visit in November and my sister Veronika and Fred next January ... now we can plan - Inshallah I will be in Dubai for the next year or so.

My year off has truly come to an end now... I decided not to use my return ticket to Sydney....  I will stay in Dubai and Inshallah start a new life....

Now with my new job I am relaxed and happy.  I made some good friends at Grameen-Jameel, which I treasure!  I am truly fortunate and God is looking after me (and my darling Hisham too)!

Al Hamdullilah!

I am discovering a different Dubai....  things have to be different... I need to move on ....

Find the deer....

My pet....

I am enjoying the lifestyle and lots of sheishas....(the real reason why I am here.. hi hi)

One of our sheisha places at the Meadows....a Persian Restaurant with nice majlis to lounge...

Outdoor air-conditioning... the only way to survive the hot weather ....

Wonder how long it'll take me to smoke them all....

The other thing I wanted to experience is a spiritual Ramadan.... and God blessed me with that experience.  Basma and I started going for Taraweeh prayers at night at the mosque, then Zakia joined us, then her cousins and then a current collegue Hala.... It is so nice to have friends to share prayers with and to share Ramadan with!  We went to three different mosques... the Mosque in Jumeirah is beautiful and has great energy!

We also shared a few nice Iftars.... the first an Egyptian/German one.... and then Lebanese/German, which also was Basma's birthday celebration!  Happy Birthday!

My first house guest: Yvonne

Yvonne is back.... on a flying visit 1 night only.... she's been on a holiday to the UK and is stopping over in Dubai to visit me!  My first house-guest!  I picked her up on Thursday eve from the airport and took her back there on Friday night!  So Friday was a full day!

First stop Jumeirah Beach.... it is soo hot....I am sweating.... so off to Tim Horton's for breakfast....

Then we go for a drive to the Palm Island, we have a look at Atlantis Hotel...

Then we drive to the other side to see the new and infamous Zaabel Zarai Hotel - absolutely amazing and beautiful - Turkish style...I want to move in!!!

Tourists....

View of the main land from the palm

And off we drive to the Khor, I saw some Oryx  there before and wanted to share that with Yvonne,  also I wanted to show her the flamingos, but unfortunately, the observatories were closed, so we could only see them from afar.... oh well at least we experienced some nature and wildlife....

Burj Khalifa...

In the evening we went to the Dubai Marina and had dinner at a Persian restaurant.  Basma joined us for a sheisha.  It was a nice farewell.....

Next time hopefully - Yvonne will stay longer...
