On Friday he kindly takes me to North Augusta, which is in South Carolina and Augusta, which is in Georgia... one town two states.... it's only 1/2 drive from Aiken. The town is a little bigger than Aiken. The Savannah River runs through the town - very pretty. The town itself consists of one high street that is downtown.... It has a nice coffee shop, where we stop for breakfast.
Augusta is a consolidated city in the U.S. of Georgia, located along the Savannah River with a population of 195,844. Internationally, Augusta is best known for hosting The Masters Tournament each spring, and for being the hometown of fun.
It is definately 'Pink' month of October - I see pink in every town and street.... i.e. Women's cancer month!
The Savannah River is a major river, forming most of the border between the states of South Carolina and Georgia. The river is around 301 miles (484 km) long. Two major cities are located along the Savannah River: Savannah, Georgia, and Augusta, Georgia. They were nuclei of early English settlements during the Colonial period of American history.
No crocodiles anywhere....
But lizards....
Another part of the river....I want to move into one of these big houses!!!!
Spot the police car (I am sure they were following us.....)
On the way home we pop by a German butcher, where we pick up several German meatloaves for Heiko's farewell party (he is a colleague of Michael's who is going back to Germany).
Then we go to Augusta shopping mall, for a stroll and shirt shopping for Michael!
Airport plane strip... right next to the main street... a bit scary!!
In the evening, we pop over to Heiko's place, in the same compound where Michael lives.... and we enjoy a nice evening with his friends and colleagues; and good German home-made food.
Good night
