Michael texted me during my first week in Aiken: hey, don't you know this guy Albin? He is here at the plant. Turns out, my girlfriend Ulrike's (from way back in Germany - we did our apprenticeship together in a previous lifetime) husband, who works at the same company as my brother back in Germany, is in Aiken for 2 weeks. What a coincident, we could not have planned it better....

Albin took me to a very nice restaurant, an old colonial style place. Lots of athmosphere and actually good food.
Reflecting the influence of both Second Empire and Colonial Revival architectural styles, The Willcox was established in the last years of the 19th century by Frederick Sugden Willcox.
The far-reaching reputation of The Willcox was built on its atmosphere, impeccable service and excellent cuisine. It became “the hostelry” for national and international political, business, and social leaders and their families.
The Willcox continues to draw people from all over the world to enjoy superb personal service, gracious accommodations, excellent cuisine and their individual interpretation of the “Aiken lifestyle.” This is the ladies bathroom:
